VOLUNTEERING AND MENTAL WELL BEING
Voluntary work gives people confidence and self respect, self belief and a purpose and meaning to life. This also helps the road to recovery and good mental health.
I have done a lot of voluntary work in 36 years. it can be flexible and rewarding. There are no stresses or anxieties involved.
Everyone needs a job to keep them motivated and well in the community. You can work your way up the ladder in the voluntary sector getting more satisfaction and responsibilities. Nothing is impossible to do if you put your mind to it and set yourself targets. Laughter is the best medicine and therapy is the true road to success.
I have a very large social network and a good support network in my community. I am connected to many organizations in West Dunbartonshire. I go to libraries and lunch clubs and am always learning new skills and getting more knowledgeable.
Everyday should be an interesting day and if possible you should learn something new and exciting.
