About Us

We write for Everyone

Clydebank Writers are a free thinking creative group who have no restrictions on the content of writing other than the use of words for malicious purposes. All our writers are free to push the boundaries of written word but are guided by our group ethics. Our website content is non-biased and respectful to all readers, regardless of sex, race, religion, or sexual preferences.

We Have More stories for You

Variety of content is what we aim for. Our website is young but as time passes we hope it will serve as an historical archive of opinions, views and articles. You will find, poetry, history, memoirs, essays and everything else in the way of written subject matter in our collection.

Be Part of Our writing group

Anybody is free to join our group. We meet every Thursday from 1.30 to 3.30 at Clydebank Central Library Dumbarton Road, Clydebank, G81 1XH

other details

We are a welcoming and talented friendly group offering inspiration, lively discussion and friendly critique (if asked). We are not however a 'service group' offering mentoring, needs support or editing provision. Some writing experience is also an advantage.

As a group, Clydebank Writers has been in existence for more than twentyfive years. Faces and venues may change, but the ethos remains the same. To encourage and support creative writing in all its forms.

Several members have independently published their own work and as a group we have published two anthologies of poetry and prose: Hooked on Writing and Poetry Prose Progress. A third is currently at the early, planning stage. Members have also had work published in local newspapers and magazines.

The interests of our members are as diverse as the members themselves: painting, acting, singing, football, travel, sewing, genealogy and raising funds for charity. Mostly retired from the world of work we embraced a wide variety careers: teacher, lecturer, hotelier, blacksmith, singer, artists and more besides.

It is not only creative writing that binds us as a group, we regularly support each other in our endeavors, be helping raise money for charity or attending a performance in which one of our members is taking part.

Clydebank Writers are a member of the Scottish Association of Writers
