volunteering
My name is Stuart. I have been doing voluntary work for over 13 years with Cornerstone Charities. I have been working with admin in the offices and other duties as needed.
I am very interested in mental health and visit the library to do my research and borrow books. I’m an avid reader too, fiction and non fiction to gain knowledge on a wide range of subjects.
I do indoor gardening at home as well as outdoor gardening. I find working with plants and growing them makes me feel relaxed. It’s a great hobby and very rewarding, especially during the covid epidemic.
Working with the Stepping Stones Charity, I do peer support. As I member I promote mental health in communities. As a member of a few lunch clubs in Dumbarton I can socialise. I also volunteer for Rockvale Rebound which is also in Dumbarton. Working in the community I record for the blind and partially blind.
I consider myself a good citizen and neighbour and friend to many in my local community. Support is needed to help people to become independent and free as they want and need to be. “As free as a bird”
Creative writing is also very important to keep the mind active, inventing and imaging. Creative studies are needed for my writing group. Creative writing is cathartic, emotional and releases feeling which can hold me back in life. I can change the present and future paths to my life by making good choices for and avoid bad choices.
Creative writing is an expression and a therapy for everyone to try out and also learn from each other in our writing group. Humour, fun, interesting topic as to talk about in our community and friendship to be had in our group.
