cool water

This is the life thought John, spread out on a sun lounger in his back garden.

He’d been sunning himself for the past hour enjoying the peace and quiet of a rare Sunday afternoon to himself.

His wife Jean had taken the children to visit their grandmother and wouldn’t be back till five.

Feeling thirsty he picked up his glass of water only to discover there was barely an inch or so left lying in the bottom. He was about to shout on Jean to bring him out some bottled water only to remember she was round at her mothers and he would have to get up and get it for himself.

Damn! Why was Jean never about when he needed something, if only she paid as much attention to his needs as she did to the children’s their marriage wouldn’t be heading for the rocks...and thinking about rocks, some more ice cubes in his glass wouldn’t go amiss,

Suddenly the sun was blocked out with what John fleetingly thought was a cloud passing over the sun but unfortunately for him it was an extremely large piece of blue ice that had dropped from the undercarriage of a plane coming in to land at the nearby airport...poor John got more ice than he could handle.
